Englewood police responded to the area of East Jefferson Avenue at South Pennsylvania Street after a report of a vehicle incident involving a pedestrian on Dec. 25, according to a news release.

Upon arrival, officers found a victim lying on the roadway around 8:45 p.m., the release said. The area is along U.S. Highway 285 a handful of blocks east of Broadway.

Paramedics took the victim to a local hospital with serious injuries, the release said. The pedestrian was walking across the street when they were struck by a silver SUV, the release said. The driver of the SUV fled the area. The driver was described as a Black woman in her 30s or 40s, the release said.

The suspected vehicle is a 2009 Saturn Vue with Colorado license plates (BGFB57) and front-end damage, according to the release. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued a Medina Alert, which applies to certain hit-and-run incidents, shortly after the incident.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Englewood Police Department at 303-761-7410.

No arrest had been made as of Dec. 30, said Sgt. Joel Jose, an Englewood police spokesperson. Jose referred questions about the victim’s condition to the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. The DA’s office did not immediately have information on the victim’s condition.
