I read with interest the April 16 article, “South Suburban facing cuts as shutdowns drag on.” The person interviewed, Rob Hanna, executive director of South Suburban Parks and Recreation, goes into great detail, outlining the expense-cutting the district is doing due to the pandemic: furloughing 1,400 part-time employees and about half the 241 full-time employees. Staff remaining are instructed to use up their vacation and sick days and then apply for unemployment.
Nowhere does the article say anything about administrators such as Mr. Hanna, who are earning five- or six-figure salaries, making any sacrifices.
