Letter to the Editor: Thanks for letting me off the hook

I have lived a long and productive life and I have no interest in prolonging it by spending my last days on a ventilator. Two months ago I instructed my daughter to follow my end-of-life wishes to not ventilate me if I contracted COVID-19, which could make this treatment available to a younger person.

C&C Coffee and the Castle Rock community relieved her of having to make this decision. C&C Coffee defied the law by opening on Mother’s Day and received the support of Castle Rock. I’m betting the folks who stood in line at C&C last Sunday would be the first in line for “my” ventilator if one of them needed it due to COVID-19. So, we are back to my original Living Will, and my daughter and I are grateful.
