Masks are path to reopening

Occam's Razor stipulates that the simplest solution is usually the best solution.

All of us want to reopen — we all want the economy to stabilize, to attend family reunions, send our kids back to school, and pursue our travel dreams — all without dying or killing others in the process.

There has been a lot of contradicting and false information — it is easy to get confused and frustrated. However, the newest research coming out overwhelmingly points to the great advantages of wearing masks: In societies where people wear masks and social distance, cases of COVID drop 80%.

The backlash against wearing masks is not only deadly, it is ironic. While there are some who are medically unable to wear masks, most of the backlash comes from those who don't want to wear masks as a sign they want economic restrictions ended. But, if 80% of us wore masks, the economy could recover faster as the pandemic ceases to spread and we are all safer to move about freely.

I hope all of us who are medically able will choose to wear masks so we can stop this virus and restart the economy. It truly is the safest, simplest, and cheapest option we have.
