The man police suspect of shooting and hospitalizing a Littleton police officer earlier this week has been arrested, police said. 

Rigoberto Valles Dominguez, 33, was taken into custody late Friday by the Brighton Police Department, as well as several other agencies, after police received information that he was in a home at the 1100 block of South 27th Avenue south of East Bromley Lane in Brighton, according to police. 

Brighton police tweeted that they received information about 3:45 p.m.  Friday that the suspect was inside a home in that area. They later tweeted that the suspect was barricaded inside the home and that they were "working to end this situation peacefully."

Several hours later, Brighton police tweeted that the suspect was taken into custody at 10:40 p.m. Friday "with no injuries to officers or the suspect."

Officers had been searching for Dominguez since Wednesday when they identified him as the person suspected of shooting Littleton officer David Snook. Littleton police said Dominguez was taken into custody in connection with the attempted murder of Snook and Littleton officer Jeff Farmer. 

Littleton police said Snook and Farmer had responded to a call of shots fired in the area of West Powers Avenue and Bannock Street in northeast Littleton late Monday. After arriving at the scene they found two people believed to have been involved, one of whom police said was Dominguez. 

Both suspects fled on foot, with a man police believe was Dominguez entering an apartment building at 183 W. Powers Ave. Police alleged that as Snook followed behind, Dominguez turned and shot the officer several times with a handgun. 

Snook was able to return fire as was Farmer, who helped Snook receive immediate medical attention while the man identified as Dominguez escaped, police said. During the incident, Farmer injured his knee but is recovering at home, police said. 

Snook remains hospitalized in the intensive care unit at Swedish Hospital in Englewood.
